Speedometer odometer refurbish

I have an 1980
And the distance meter that can be zeroed With the Knob at 9 o clock has started jump digits.
So between rides i forget how far I have been riding
And the meter is not showing right
Risking run out of petrol
If believe I have another one with the same problem.
Back in the day There existed mechanical gadgets with a Magnet at the back where one could set each digit manually
But i cant find it and no one for sale anymore

Has anyone made repairs in there . A spring or something .? And Please share other Thoughts

I hear ya Jan.
The hard miles can be turned to whatever you want once the actual odometer is out of the plastic case and in hand, though this requires getting into the case either by cutting around the body or prying the metal bezel ring off.
I have the same issue with the trip odometer. Seems it wants to add 100 miles at its own discretion.

I did find the manual Counter Took a long time .it has a weak magnet at the back holding it against the dashboard and every digit can be set manually that helps
I can set it when filling up and keep it in the pocket
It was used for people driving in the profession .For billing and reports
No battery no programming --- Keep it simple I don't believe one can buy one today
Probably from early 70 ies

Have a couple of meters and are planning to transfer a ring from a rev counter to a speedometer that don't have one per Skulls instructions
