My new OE spring arrived from Ebay.
I get 5-7lbs pull on my 'ole fish scale. Better than the 3-4lbs on the same used OE gear with an "already been pinched" original OE spring. And that's better than the Mike's gear/spring that's currently in the bike.
The NOS (90468 - 29062) "improved" spring is thicker (.103" vs .119"). The tech bulletin from 1971 says to use as a set with a new "improved" gear.
Does anyone know for sure if the old gear/new spring clip are incompatible?
It appears in my picture that the new spring sits higher (in the groove) than the original. And MAY interfere with the engaging gears. That's the original thinner spring not installed, the improved one properly on the gear.
Thanks guys.
