Hey folks, am getting to the point on my 80 chopper project where I need to think about where to locate my starter relay. At this point I'd like to maintain the elec starter.
Was looking through the "some wiring diagrams" thread (a magnificent thread BTW - thanks to all involved) and I see that in the simplified diagrams the starter lockout relay is NOT included.
The reason I'm worried about it is it seems I've also heard a starter "run-on" safety component mentioned. Although not recently...not here on the forum. But I guess I thought it was meant to assure that the starter motor stops running as soon as the bike is running.
Is this a different item from what the Haynes manual calls "starter lockout relay"? Talking about the elec component that, on an 80, goes right before the starter relay. It has 2 "humps" and a big harness coming off of it.
Well, I feel I have not described it well and am trying to avoid saying "thingy"...so I'm posting this and will be right back with a pic of it.
thanks!
(would love to be able to omit this thing, as it is pretty big and cumbersome and space is tight on my bike)
