Static timing problem

Okay after all those good comments. I ran through everything , put it all back together and it starts up. Checked it with the timing light and it's right on.
I started through the procedure to do the low idle air mixture screw. Now when I unplug the left cylinder the motor stops but if I unplugged the right cylinder the motor keeps running put plug wire back on it starts right up.

Like it .Now if the machine have been sitting it can take a while before everything settles so dying on the one cylinder may not be a problem

If you have the original '76 carb set then there are vacuum ports blocked off by large flat head screws. You will need to remove the screws and temporarily install nipples for the gauge hoses. They are a standard M6 x 1 thread ......

The screw on the right carb mounts into the choke housing .....

The one on the left carb goes directly into the carb body, just above the cable arm ......

The carb on the left was just like your pic and carb on the right I attached a photo of mine.

OK, I think someone mixed up the choke housings. Look at the choke housing on the left carb. I'll bet it's got the vacuum port in it and was incorrectly mounted on the left carb instead of the right.

I'm not seeing that. The left cylinder vacuum port is all part of the carburetor. The right vacuum port is a removable plate with no port.

Got a pic of the choke housing mounted on the left carb? If it really does have no vacuum port on it then it looks like sometime in the bike's past, someone mounted a left carb choke housing on your right carb. You'll need to source a correct right carb choke housing w/ the port if you want to be able to attach vacuum gauges. Used is your only option, maybe try gggGary, he's got lots of parts.

Okay thanks so much for all of your attention and knowledge , I will do that and thanks for the info.
