T140 Revisited

Well, here we are in May 2026 and I finally have the beastie running. Not perfectly, but I haven't yet strobed the (Boyer) ignition or set the idle mixture on the carbs. Tomorrow the Halcyon bar end mirrors will arrive, but first I have a charging issue to sort out (I'll ask about that in a separate thread) before I can do any break-in miles.

Experience so far? Do a ground-up rebuild and you can have one bike for the price of two!! Two good ones, at that .... And ditching the standard air box setup caused more problems than I anticipated due to clearance issues. My solution (at the moment, anyway) is to use TSS inlet boots plus angled UNI filters. I may need to chop some meat from the side covers to neaten things up if I'm going to keep this arrangement though. A horrible thiught as the paintwork is so good

Obligatory pics:

Dunno if I mentioned it before, but the aim is to get it run in in plenty of time before the Colombres Rally in the Picos mountains, Spain, in September/October. My friend Mike is coming too but his Benelli Sei build is stalled as the Sei specialist who he's entrusted a lot of work to fell off his own one and broke his arm quite badly. Good job I also have the XS! Which is running beautifully, all I've had to do in recent times is rebalance the carbs. Looks like we'll take my two bikes and take turns on each of them.

Cheers all -
Cliff
