To all who follow this foolishness known as XS650. I am a newbie; I had become intimate with my new to me XS650 over 4 or 5 months with the help of this forum and when invited to join this Rally I was awed, nervous, scared (actually). The allure of doing something I had only dreamed of was overwelming. I was going to a "riding paradise" with other XS650 owners. I am not a shy guy but I was going to meet face to face folks who had helped me sort problems with my "new to me" bike via on-line discussions in the forum. On line discussion is quick to reveal just how dense a person can be so I approached the deadline with dread, I know I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer. My work with my XS650 defined a few tools and supplies I needed and I packed those in my SUV. Anyway, I met a bunch of great folks that first for me "Yamaha 650 Society" rally. My bike ran great the whole Rally but another member needed some of the tools and supplies I had packed and I was honored to be able to give back to this community that has helped me so much.

I was wanting to come this year as I have never been to this before. Would there be a problem of somebody else coming along with me that is not riding a 650?

If you go through the various Rally threads you will find an assortment of other make in the mix, usually off on the side a little bit. All are welcomed. @motormike has traveled to the rally on his RE650 with luggage and @Mikey arrives with his friend on a newer Sportster.

@Motorpacked in last year iIRC and @jpdevol rode to the innaugural (or ressurected) "Driftless" rally from West Virginia last Sept. But yes, most of us trailer/haul or bikes for convenience or time or any other reason. The riding and friends at the Rally is it's own reward. Not to mention the lodging in Mountainview is so unique, relaxing and welcoming.
