I don't know, maybe this belongs in the A.I. thread I started, but weird things have been happening more and more lately……😳

There have always been these weird connections on the internet, such as you might be searching for an item online and then the next time you go on Amazon, Viola! There it is!

But lately it has been happening everywhere I go online, everything seems connected. For example, I love watching restoration videos on YouTube, on practically anything, guns , shoes , furniture….you name it. So I was watching , what seemed to me to be pretty obscure stuff, a guy was restoring a very old, damaged, Stradivarius violin. Call me weird, but I find the detailed craftsmanship involved fascinating.
Ok….now for the strange connection, the next day I was reading my online news feed and up popped an article from Violin.com about a rare Stradivarius violin. Violin.com ? 🤔 In my news feed? Really? I’ve never been on that website. Never even heard of it.

This sort of thing has been happening with increased frequency over a whole broad range of websites and topics. I have begun to think that
“ smart computers / A.I. “ are trying to predict my interests and present me with things I will look at or buy. I turned off SIRI on my phone because the damn thing was listening to conversations between me and my wife, even though the phone was shut off! Kids may be comfortable with all this stuff, but I find it unsettling. 😳

That’s exactly the same as my own behavior. I’d rather watch someone restore an anvil than some stupid sitcom.
As far as the AI, just go with it. We used to have to look at commercials for feminine hygiene. Thankfully, those days are gone.

Here’s an instructional video on how to cook a leg of lamb. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

my doctors office phoned with an appointment, after I hung up my calendar popped up with a reminder, I tilted my phone over to the wife and her jaw dropped, I said “just Siri watching out for me”
I get into the car late afternoon, my phone puts up directions to the gym. I guess that’s better than directing me to the bar.

I'm thinking about this. My parents are both 90 years old. They retired to Florida 30 years ago. They have a computer and wifi. They have no clue how to use it or what it's for. They have a flip phone. They might turn it on to make a call, then turn it back off. My dad spends hours looking at TV. They live in a gated retirement community. They live in isolation. They don't know how to get information. They have become irrelevant. Nothing and no one is tracking them as they've been left behind. It makes me sad and I'll do my best to avoid that. I'll start by moving back closer to my kids.

My doctor tried to get me to consent to letting her use some app on her phone to record our conversation and use A.I. to sum it up and write notes in real time. I was like noooooo waaaaay. "Oh it's really safe and only I have access to it."

Bullshit. This technology is a third party. My brother did cybersecurity in the Marines. His business was literally to find weak spots and fail points in systems. And cousin, business was a-boomin!

Let's take bets on how fast he can get my "secure" medical info from this third party app, and then the world can really know how fucked up in the head I am.

For those interested, the technology is from a company called Abridge, and it sent up red flags from here to Pluto when I took a look at their website.

I'm with you. I live a simple life. I'm careful about what I do on my computer and I use a flip phone. I'm not doing anything illegal, it's just not anybody's business.

She claims it'll reduce her workload and blah blah blah. All I can think after looking at their website is these fuckers don't want to help nobody. They probably sell my personal medical info once they get access to it.
I’m working in this field currently. Not healthcare, but aircraft maintenance. Briefly, they collect all of this data and put code to it, likely grouped into conditions and treatment results or something like that is my guess. With enough data, the AI reduces workload and improves results is my assumption.

Opting out is your choice and fine, but I suspect they may have no interest in you, only what’s wrong with you and results of treatment.

This is my hunch based upon my personal experience. I have no facts about what they actually do with your data.

Interest in what's wrong with me is the scary part. That's how they decide who gets to keep their Constitutional rights. I could be paranoid but the first thing a tyrannical government does is disarm its people. And the way they disarm its people is by saying they don't get Constitutional rights due to mental illness or some other "qualifying factor". And what classifies as mental illness is up to the healthcare system, which probably gets kickbacks from companies looking to see who they can rat out to the government for profit.

Oh Jake doesn't need a gun, he smoked 2 joints 20 years ago. He must have a drug addiction. No pistol for Jake anymore!

Had my brother do some digging for me, and discovered that essentially this 3rd party app transfers my data (my personal medical info) to Google "and others".

Great. Now Google potentially knows any sort of "disorders" I might have, including my "obsessive compulsive disorder" of hoarding used car/motorcycle parts. It's not hoarding, and even if it were, hoarding isn't a bad thing.

Rest easy, nobody cares about you. Only your disorders are of interest.
