The inter connectivity of EVERYTHING

And again……..yesterday I was sitting in my recliner reading a historical article about Arizona. My wife was in the kitchen and we started talking about how we were getting tired of shopping at Fry’s food stores because they put up so many hurdles to shopping sales ( must be a member, must clip virtual coupons and put them in your virtual shopping cart along with the products you intend to buy….all before you go to the store ) so anyways we were talking about Fry’s food stores.
I look back to the article I was reading, only it was gone, in its place was a full page Fry’s Food Stores advertisement.

“There is nothing wrong with your computer, we are controlling transmission.”

I think they really want you as a loyal customer '
That's F***cked up wow

Yeah, you know I had Siri turned off, I’ve never used it and never will. What I didn’t realize is that Siri runs inside of literally every app on an Apple device. I had to open the settings and go through every app on my iPad and disable Siri.
Now I’m waiting to see what will quit working because I did that.
It’s always something! 🤷🏼‍♂️

If my phone was listening in on me it could cuss better than a pirates parrot
Especially while I'l trying to get through the AI BS on a websites help line
Just for the hell of it say like
"you know when I die I want to be buried in my car but I'm not sure on the deductable " it could get interesting

A reminder of what 3rd party apps are stealing from us.
3rd party trackers are companies that track our information from other apps we have. Even when we are not using them.

DuckDuckGo has a built in tracker killer.

Here is the information on how and what. I use WPS office to open PDF's. Will use this as my example. Google and track my information from it. Or tries to, all these trackers have been blocked.

Look at how intrusive they are. Everything we do and more.
Google want my first name, last name, city, postcode and email address and GPS. That's my identity right there.

DuckDuckGo on trackers

They also have a email address you can use, (a false name), to sign up with to, whoever, they then link through to your real email and take out the trackers
The company has the DuckDuckGo email as yours and not your real one. Companies see a legit email.

Yea they say this may affect how other apps work, to scare us into not turning things off. In truth nothing happens

On some that it will affect, I disable all permissions, so other apps can't access it. On some I set it to use permissions, (I allow), only when in use or turn off and on when I want to use it.

Lot of mucking around, and to b honest I am sure there are hidden things that circumnavigate these safety attempts but have faith it helps a bit.

Rest easy, nobody cares about you. Only your disorders are of interest.
Correct! What's important is how your disorders can be monetized by doctors and health insurance companies prescribing unnecessary/unrelated tests, procedures, and prescription drugs that cause even more disorders, so the cycles of fleecing a patient can be continue........indefinitely!

I'm thinking about this. My parents are both 90 years old. They retired to Florida 30 years ago. They have a computer and wifi. They have no clue how to use it or what it's for. They have a flip phone. They might turn it on to make a call, then turn it back off. My dad spends hours looking at TV. They live in a gated retirement community. They live in isolation. They don't know how to get information. They have become irrelevant. Nothing and no one is tracking them as they've been left behind. It makes me sad and I'll do my best to avoid that. I'll start by moving back closer to my kids.
My Mom was 90..she never lost her relevance...she drove her big Lincoln Town Car up until the last 6 months of her life...She didnt do internet but she was actively involved in her adult community...never spent a min. in a retirement home...I hope to emulate her continued relevance throughout the remainder of my life...and I am like you all well connected and big brother defintely knows the who..what..where and wherewithal of my doings...I dont let it bother me...--its all part of the playing field...

They read the rear plate, there's no escape.

Oh yeah, they had me. Not too bad, since it included an Oasis parking lot "campsite" ;^)

Crap, just remembered Oklahoma too. Don't THINK Texas had their hand out.

It's not just tollways. During an amber alert last winter a news org let slip that a "hidden" plate reader on "just a state highway river bridge" near me helped them find the car they thought was involved. I check two days later and the article no longer mentioned that detail.

"I may be paranoid but that doesn't mean they aren't out to get me."
Think about this, they are recording and entering your movements into databases. EVERY DAY.

When you look at where DOGE had its nose then all of the medical, tax, (even though they won't supposed to have been there, Yea right), with cross referencing, everyone's information has been put into a massive data base.

How do you think ICE manages to find so many of those parking ticket criminals.

Not as bad here yet.......yet.

When covid was on we had a tracking app. Guaranteed to isolated personal information that is not shared with other gov't departments, agencies, law, customs, tax, or any one at all. Compartmentalized, firewalls and all that stuff.
Problem was the contracter controlling the information was given to a US firm, (stored in the cloud), US law overrode Australian law, because it was a US company, US agencies, law enforcement, could access all that information on request.

Local Supercheap Auto, parts store. Never remember the part no for the oil filter or air cleaner filter. They used to have a book hanging in the isle to look up the right part for your vehicle, pick it off the shelf.

No more. Have to ask at the counter.
Even if you tell them your vehicle, 2003 triton GL 2.4 petrol......no not good enough.... they demand to know the number plate number, (has home address etc), which they put in their system. Obviously linked to the qovt transport system, then they get the part.

About any kind of traveling makes credit cards and a smart phone a necessity not an option.
That is true. As an awkward person, I don't have a mobile phone. On our recent holiday in Madeira, I was reliant on Mrs to book and pay for the airport carpark in the UK - it's possible they have non-smartphone options, we didn't check. Also for luggage lockers in Funchal - definitely no non-smartphone options, everything was driven by QR codes even getting into the building.

We managed to pass through security at UK and Madeiran airports and check-in/boarding, but only because we were travelling together - Mrs had the necessary boarding passes on her phone. She had to present her phone with my pass at the electronic gate, which would let me through, then she would present her pass. So in effect I have achieved the status of a child or dependent simply by literally not buying in to the technology.

And it's only going to get worse.

Both staying relevant and maintaining privacy in our modern world is a quandary. The days of operating cash only and no electronic devices are coming or have come to an end.

For the last 20 years or so, I’ve made it a point to tip in cash. Now that those tips aren’t taxable in the U.S., I probably won’t be quite as concerned about it, (though I still want it in the hands of the intended recipient.)

This might be a European type of thinking but I get the feeling that 'they' would like to restrict the use of cash till it becomes irrelevant except for race-course betting and criminal transactions. I'm probably outa date with them examples. Some of our friends never carry cash these days.

I agree with that sentiment. I sometimes use cash to hide transactions from myself when I don’t want to note them in our household budget.

I always carry some cash. When travelling I will pocket my cash stash. Nothing more embarrassing or disruptive when buying something, get to the counter and the staff saying, "sorry the internet is down, can't process the sale".

Last time I was at my daughter's, she asked if I had some cash on me, to pay a guy who they had hired some gear from.

Pulled out $300.00 in cash out of my pocket. Her eyes popped out of her head. Don't think they ever have cash

my doctors office phoned with an appointment, after I hung up my calendar popped up with a reminder, I tilted my phone over to the wife and her jaw dropped, I said “just Siri watching out for me”
HAVE YOU EVER LOOKED UP THE LIST OF FLATSCREEN T.V.'S THAT even when turned of record audio conversations and some video in the room it's in ? pretty damed invasive of them to not let folks know. Put it thru a power bar to completely kill the juice to the bugger. A faraday bag for cell phones blocks tracking as well for sale pretty well everywhere.

brave.com is another good search engine. One search them save a search history the "private search" doesn't a simple right click on the brave logo gives you that choice.

I tried Brave on my laptop. It would run some programs faster than Firefox. It wouldn't let me delete history, data on tabs when I shut them down. Also couldn't delete data/cookies in settings. Firefox I could.

Sitting here reading about the NY mayoral election, opened up The Independent to see what they have to say. And damn me if this highly respected international daily isn't carrying a click bait link to an article Galashiels: If You Were Born Between 1940-1977 You Could Be Eligible For This.

Hardly why I opened the Independent.

Google continually offers guesses about where I'm located and keeps telling me to update my details for more accurate intrusions into my privacy. Lately, Galashiels has been the usual guess. And fair enough I was born within that date range. But for goodness sake stop putting 2-and-2 together and telling me what I wish to read.

These days I'm getting more and more like Leave me alone!
