The Patience build.

Another big order today. I ordered seals, cables, rebuild kits for brake calipers and cylinders, fork seals and boots and engine filters. Up next, cam chain and guide. Sorry guys for not posting more right now during the gathering stage but I’m way busier now that I don’t have to go to work…..

More goodies today. 0747BF13-5259-43D1-8ABD-4C6B25D9B24B.jpeg

All unloaded and getting set up. I need two things. My dumbass got out without my manual so I need to order one. Where’s the go-to as I haven’t had to order one recently. I also want to make another engine stand before I get started so I brought angle for that.92A9CD36-A4DF-4520-BADB-C26B248C952C.jpeg

Thanks Marty. Biker.net doesn’t have the one for my year bike but I’ll look at the other link once I get back. Out running errands right now.

Yamaha didn't publish full shop manuals for every model year. The in between years just got "supplements" designed to be used in conjunction with the last full manual that was published. These outline any minor changes for your model. So, the last full manual prior to your '76 model was for the '75 model. Download that and the '76 "supplement". Your '76 model doesn't differ too much from the earlier one. You have a different carb set, cam chain adjuster type, and the front brake caliper was moved to the rear of the fork leg.

Thanks guys. I should be all set. Going to start tearing down tomorrow, had all the standard family obligations today. Jeez, I was just here 5 months ago! Lol

Couldn’t stand it! I had to do something so I decided to pull off the crash bar. The nuts on the bracket felt really “SAEish” and I saw where the installer had used a piece of all thread in leu of the stock bolt. I’ll have to spec that out now.0D1E04F1-DCC6-493E-AF4C-68E11E318014.jpegAC7472DB-A179-40F0-92D1-84C69DA25B7D.jpegI also got an unexpected surprise under the right side cover.96005591-C379-4005-80B8-038EC542B2E0.jpegD4481ED7-38F1-4F83-9A80-FCAFCC65ACFD.jpeg

First order of the dayimage.jpgdont look at my welds too close it’s been awhile for a stick. Got spoiled by my mig.

Well, got a little side-tracked. Amazon showed up with two new door openers so we started the install on that.image.jpgimage.jpg
It’s the least I could do.

Managed to get a few things done after the install. I put up all the components, pulled the wires and whiles pops was hooking things up I started working my way forward.FC9D9C5B-8734-4F02-B3D3-E1541A39C737.jpeg

Im going to have to start compiling a list of the occasional missing bolt or the odd nuts that don’t belong. I get it about using what you have when installing aftermarket products. If that factory nut or bolt is too short or fat I’ve been guilty of scrounging something up to work.

Got some things done today. I took my time and really went over things as I disassembled the bike. One thing Inreally noticed was how bad the frame needs attention. Looks like I got to it before the rust took over. I guess it is a Michigan bike.FD83178B-3CAE-471A-8E67-711CD1F22F6C.jpeg82B9F3EB-EF60-447A-A872-B4D6B718F21B.jpeg
I also noticed how the wiring harness was ran under the tank. I haven’t looked elsewhere yet but is it supposed to hang down like this?630CFB79-BB8C-431B-832B-F70A480A58CB.jpeg
