I just cleaned one of my original carbs on my XS2. The throttle shaft felt pretty sloppy to me, but the kits from Mike's did not come with new seals. This is my first time working on one of these carbs. On the old Linkerts that I'm more used to, I would have to replace bushings, and then size them to fit close. But my Yamaha book shows seals on both sides of the shaft. My shaft feels tight when the spring is connected to the linkage, but feels sloppy when the spring is disconnected. Questions: Is it common to need to replace these seals? Are there also bushings that should also be replaced? My book doesn't seem to show bushings.

What is the easiest way to deal with the butterfly screw ends in order to make them easy to get out, and keep the threads in the shaft safe?
