Hey guys, I am looking for a new master link for my timing chain. I have a stock chain and most of the replacement links that I can find online claim that they will only work on "same make and model". I am not sure if this means that they will not work on the original chain? Here is the best option that I have found: https://www.mikesxs.net/cam-chain-b...?fits-motorcycle=Yamaha/XS650/all-models/1978

Anyone know if it will work with original chain?

Personally I replace the chain every time I am in there .. So far ..It is overkill. Others may come in.
But many vehicles have problems with timing chains and belts.
And tensioners BMW cars and Honda motorcycle tensioners.
I can off the top of my head remember three friends that had a timing belt break
2 engines scrapped 4 digits $ US repair and one VOLVO not being an interference motor
Stopping ..cheaper. Say $ 500 repair
Not categorically saying what is right or wrong a chain wont break but it can in extreme cases jump a tooth
and most likely you can find a chain link somewhere.
But if the chain has been sitting there a while perhaps a new set is one option including chain guides
