New guy here so thank u for any help!
1982 xs650
New build, 750 big bore kit
Mikes swr carbs
Mikes pma
Pamco ign no blue box? Not sure model
New coil has 13 v, new battery coming today but old one shows 13v kicking
Float bowls filled, carbs set for initial start.
Valves adjusted, timing chain adjusted
Timing mark set on pma lined up right side of notch at 6:00 see pic with Left cyl visually set at tdc on comp stroke
Home made simple wiring harness. Crimped, solderd, shrink wrapped
Bike turns over nice on starter, kicks over as well but not even a pop. It does have spark.
Rotating counterclockwise tdc mark goes past mark/notch on case and spark plug fires at about 1:30, which is near bottom of piston stroke see pic. Moving timing plate does adjust but obviously no way to make up that many degrees. Pics are all at tdc except one showing where plug fired at 1:30. Any ideas. Thank u, scott

Cranking counterclockwise, watch intake open and close on left cyl, feeling positive pressure coming out, eyeballing thru spark hole. Not perfect but close enough for a pop if I was in ballpark? Rechecked 5 times

yes depending on which piston is on compression TDC the cam pin should be either 12 or 6 o:clock.
NOTE this is revised cuz I f-d up the how the cam sits LOL
This is viewed from left side

you can see the right cylinder is on compression TDC and the cam pin hole is facing up. The slot at the sprocket and the slot are also facing straight up.

Thank u for the info. I was thinking cam was off. My friend installed the top end years ago. Gonna pull engine and verify cam timing. Unless anyone here stops me!!!???
Unique bike I started years ago. Need to finish and sell it. Long story. Thanks again for help!
