This (XS650) might be a 277 (rephase) motor?
Check if both sides are TDC at the same time.
Was that ignition already installed?

I installed ignition. Bottom end was never apart. I’ll check if both are up same time thanks

yes depending on which piston is on compression TDC the cam pin should be either 12 or 6 o:clock.
NOTE this is revised cuz I f-d up the how the cam sits LOL

you can see the right cylinder is on compression TDC and the cam pin hole is facing up. The slot at the sprocket and the slot are also facing straight up.

Think I’m all good now. Everything lined up 12 o’clock. Only issue is I can’t find any horizontal punch mark??? Thanks for all the help

Yup note the punch mark is on the other side of the sprocket from the notch.
(bet Jim beat me to it LOL)

Did you check that you have compression?
I hadda ask cuz with cam timing that far off a bent valve is a possibility...

assuming he didn't move the cam between pics it's not rephased.
