TOOLS FOR THE TRIP

Makes a lot of sense... and makes me rethink my tool strategy.
When I travel long-haul in my truck (not on a bike), I bring a substantial tool box. Rationally, there is not a lot that you can fix by the side of the road, so the tool box is largely overkill. I then rationalize the contents of the tool kit because I usually have something to attend to at the other end; a boat, bike, tractor, etc. I hate the realization that I have what I need to address the problem at hand, only it is "back at the shop" which happens to be 1000 kms away!

Love the 3D printed tool pouch holder.
Very cool..
I'm not sure I agree with the space and weight allowed for 2 sets of brake pads. Seems to me this falls under "pre-ride maintenance". Unless you are circumnavigating the globe, even a half- worn set of pads should get you there, if you're unsure, change them at home before you head out. I might substitute a pair of needle- nose pliers, a bit of wire and a couple of zip ties. Everyone has their go-to tools, and to each their own. It would be a shame to be stranded for the want of a couple of small tools.

100% on the wire and zip ties

Over time you learn to dance with your bike, accepting its quirks and carrying the tools it needs you to.

I'm a little surprised at the lack of tools to fix a flat (plugs, patches, etc) - he does have a compressor and tire irons, but I didn't see anything else. On my bicycle (2 hours / day commuting) I carry tire wrenches, patches, pump and CO2 cyclinders.

I second the idea of zip ties those can hold things together until you can get to a better shop.
