Here's something you should know about torque wrenches that will keep you from stranding yourself in someplace like North Dakota.

A while back I stumbled on a website where someone tested a couple of dozen randomly chosen consumer grade torque wrenches of various makes and ages and they were all substantially off. Surprisingly off, to me.

Beam and click were equally off.

With that in mind, use a beam type and if you come to a point where you turn but the torque being indicated isn't increasing, then you have gone plenty far!

If you read someone saying use 35 ft-lbs instead of the spec'd 27, it's as likely as not their wrench is off in that region and if you keep going you will break the bolt before you see 35. Especially is your wrench is off in the opposite direction from theirs!

That's why in this imperfect world beam type is best!
