^Your tappet covers have a groove for the o-ring, meaning you can use either them or gaskets. O-rings take much less than bolt-stripping torque to seal the opening. With gaskets, it's a Napoleonic battle of stripping vs. leaking. Napoleon uses gaskets because of the challenge. Mere mortals will use o-rings or quickly perish.
