Tx seat

Hi all,
I am getting near the end of my first bike restoration. I am wondering if someone could tell me if my seat looks like an original. I never thought it was but then found a schematic that shows a similar looking seat? Have also found schematic of a different seat that says it’s also for a tx and have seen lots of photos of tx bikes that have a different seat to mine?

Can't help you with your question but it's a great looking seat. One of the experts here will be along with the knowledge I am certain.

Thanks BluzPlayer I didn’t do a build thread as I am new to bike restoration and all things mechanical. Reading other people’s threads on this site has helped immensely though. I like the seat too so I am hoping someone will tell me it’s original

Your seat might be from an accessories catalogue from back in the day, but the pictured bike is wearing the OE seat.

1970-1972 had the rear grab loop. 1973 did not. All of the combined 70-73 manuals that I have seen get this wrong.
A pic of the underside of your seat would help determine if you have a modified or aftermarket seat.

To me it does not look like a factory seat, it looks like a very nicely done professionally reupholstered seat. I would keep it if it were me!

Spot on DogBunny the rear grab loop has definitely been added on. I can tell by the fixings it’s not original. The seat pan is original. Had a conversation with Skull and we think it’s been reupholstered. I just thought it looked a lot like the seat in the schematic which is quite different to the photo of the seat you posted

A photo of the seat pan when I first got the bike. You can make out the original sticker. Sorry can’t get a better pic at moment I am locked in isolation with bloody covid!!!

I can see enough of your pan in that pic to say that you definitely have an original 1973 seat pan. Yes, it's been very nicely custom reupholstered with new material. The foam has been custom shaped, and is also probably new.
