Ultrasonic Cleaning Thread

Hello gentlemen, been awhile since Ive posted and feel bad about beating this dead horse. Ive finally picked up a 30l ultrasonic cleaner. It arrived yesterday. it's safe to say that most of our parts are aluminum. I spent about two hours online looking at cleaning solutions..solutions. Along with photos of dark grey mishaps.. One site says, "yea thats safe to use", followed by a "never use this" from powdered dishwasher detergent to "a drop of Dawn", Evaporust, ( I love Evaporust! , just never used it in a ultrasonic cleaner) , To my grandmothers denture cleaning tablets (i made that one up) Sooo, any last thoughts before I head to town later? Ps my XS2 came out well, we just got a new computer and Im in the process, because i was told...if there aint photos??? it did not happen. lol. thanks in advance guys. How i can take two rusty barn finds, clean them up, but cant post a photo to this forum is beyond me

It’s just a simple matter of skill sets. I work in engineering although I’m not an engineer. They needed my skill sets.

Posting pictures is easy enough to learn on this forum. Search “posting pictures” and I expect simple instructions will come up. OR, someone will walk you through it. It happens to me almost every day. No worries.

I WILL conquer this! I managed to get the photos from my phone into the computer......by myself! my in laws are wizards and live down the road. Looking forward to sharing some pics finally. As far as the ultrasonic cleaner, i grabbed a jug of ZEP citrus cleaner. I plan to start with a well diluted mixture and go from there.

I used that last time. I’m going to use it again next time. It’s inexpensive and I liked the results.
I’ve used this too for general cleaning. For my carbs I use a chemical supplied by my ultrasonic cleaner distributor. Not sure what it is. Others have used Simple Green with good results. I think there’s a heavy duty, perhaps aviation related product?
Whatever you use just make sure it doesn’t attack aluminum if you’re cleaning parts like your carbs. I recall many years ago I used to use Castrol Super Clean a lot but stopped using it after it damaged some aluminum surfaces it contacted.

I've got a 30l unit, it's not vevor, but probably came out of the same factory. I've had it about 5 years so far. I've been using omegasonic omegaclean soap in it. I started using that when I learned that the local bike shop uses it. Not the cheapest, and you have to thoroughly rinse the parts with hot water when they come out. But it works well.

What ratio do you mix it to? I have been using various carb cleaner mixture that’s designed for ultrasonic cleaner - adding anti corrosive liquid to the mix, results are in general good, however at times I get small “white” deposits on the material, it buff / brush off but it’s an annoyance

I’m not very scientific. I put the gallon of Zep in the machine and topped it up with water. I can’t remember how long the cleaning cycle was either. I removed the parts directly into a freshwater bath they appeared to suffer no discoloration. I’ve got three machines dialed in nicely.

I was gifted my ultrasound cleaning machine. One of my friends on here gave it to me. The heater failed and the machine was replaced under warranty. I bought a stick on block heater to replace the faulty heater. I’m sure it works better than the original part. I got it from Ali Baba in China. Maybe that’s now Ali Express.

Mine is a 30L 600W using 10 transducers - bigger than I needed but the first 15 l I got only worked once before the heating element gave up - so they send me a bigger one for free ( now 3-4 years ago) and I’m happy with it although it’s probably also Chinese build - my friend got the other one using external heat. They’ll all work without heat but it makes the cleaning a lot easier :)

Just the U/S alone will heat the soup to 40°C or so.
Using heater evaporates high ends of the solvent mix.

Quiz:
what is the best solvent? and guesses?

Hi guys, I ended up using Zep citrus cleaner as well. I used 1 red plastic cup (like the kind from a keg party as kids) of Zep and topped it off with hot water. I ran two consecutive 10 minute runs and then rinsed. everythings clean and none of that discoloration i was worried about. Ive seen some videos where someone fills the entire machine with undiluted cleaners. Not a scientist but i am thinking thats what gets you into trouble? I was thinking about building my own ultra sonic cleaner at first...(I had the stainless tub). then i added the cost of 10 transducers and thier drives, other bits and peices.........
Best thing i did that day was click the "buy it now" button, lmao

Here you go..

If you haven’t watched Ichiban Moto’s video’s before you’re in for a treat. This guy is a hoot. 🤣😂

Ordered one yesterday
There seems to be different types
Some are for jewelry and so
This one has 4 transducers and can get to 110 Celsius and have pictures cleaning machine parts
Can still be worthless ..but lets see .Wont use it much .But i Figure I can save some money not needing
as much solvent liquids cleaning parts
