There are several threads that detail this process and the hardware to adapt to build the compressor tool.
However this side of the pond the basic plumbing piece differs from the commonly available item in the states.
Here the piece, double female 1/2" NAT, is made from brass not iron and is only available in 30 or 32mm.
After some looking I have found a substitute which fits the bill, known either as a long nut or studding rod connector.
The ones I bought at Warnhill Tools & Fasteners, minimum spend of £4.80 got me 14, are exactly 36mm long with an internal 12.mm thread and made of steel so should do nicely.
Not yet done the cutting and grinding, just thought I would share the results of my shopping. asap as people may be looking to get ready for the season about now.
Have hope that doing the seals this way will give me sweeter burning since the bike didn't run for 15 years and although ridable is not lovely on the throttle or start.
Probably more later on this thread. May make up kits if I get bored as I have several spares.
