Video Thread

My only quibbles are (1) the number 10 rating. I'd put it 1 or 2 tied or just behind the K model 750 - factoring in the timing of its introduction and its race track history, and bridging as it uniquely does two eras in motorcycling, (2) calling the XS650 an example of Yamaha technology. Japenese production, yes but as we all know, the motor design was purchased, not developed by Yamaha.

Based upon my own experience, I’d put XS1100 on that list. I have well over 100,000 miles on mine. No alternator issues, no top end rebuild, only a timing chain and a few gear wheels. That’s four and a half decades and I can still ride it anywhere.
as the burnout kings of the era XS11's suffered HEAVY abuse with many a banged-out 2nd gear. I agree they are about the toughest engines ever made and would displace several of the bikes on this list. FJ1200's too for that matter. Lets face it there are a LOT of very solid motorcycles out there and this list is just one guy's opinion, not based one any actual data and IMHO very subject to disagreement on selection and ranking. A DT250 vs any BMW Airhead for example. It is just chatter.

OK my views

Number 10: Yamaha XS650 --> All in all right
Number 9: Honda CB450 --> I have heard of 2 crashing the bottom end when revved
Number 8: Suzuki GT750 --> Not sold that much
Number 7: Kawasaki Z1 --> Hooligans bought them would be good last 5 years
Number 6: Yamaha DT250 -- > No comments
Number 5: Honda CB500 Four --> Hairdressers bike they can last .but it is because they are parked
Number 4: Yamaha RD350 --> Cool bikes but lasting don't know about that
Number 3: Honda CB350 --> No comments ..to small ..not sold here that much
Number 2: Kawasaki H2 Mach IV --> Lasting ae h..hhh the 500 middle cylinder had a reputation sticking
and crashing ..
Number 1: Honda CB750 --> Never heard any complaints which is strange .Besides when they did break down the parts was so expensive that no one repaired them. Back then. taking it to a shop --forget about it

Said it before but the poor 125 really is the beast of burden of the C21st. Pressed into service as a locomotive - amazing ingenuity.
And I just saw this - watch for: “tire chains”, parking brake, kickstand, Hd suspension, one sided handle bars, sprocket ratios and much, much more. Quite entertaining to watch but 2nd half onward is a repeat of a previously posted vid and the 4th b vid looks like a bike scrapper.

Not sure of the country of origin. I’m thinking it’s not China. Enjoy..
Vietnam, I believe.

Interesting approach to frame design and construction - difficult to assess the handling on what we saw. And how many of those welds would fail on hitting a UK standard pothole? We already know that any tool is a hammer.

But these glimpses of human ingenuity, adapting, re-using and inventing with what they have available should tell us a lot about our throw-away society?
