What do i have?

How do identify what I have?
I just picked up a frame and an engine.
There are no engine mounts, but it looks like the engine fits.
I have the vin, but who knows if the engine is the right one..lol.
All I know so far, is the engine spins freely.
It has spoke wheels, and rear drum brake.. It's someone's unfinished project with a weld on hardtail.

But my first thing is identifying model and year of engine. So if I tear it down to learn, I can get the right spares.

Front right is the engine serial number.

From the factory it matched the frame number.
Skulls excellent thread found in tech shows basically all the numbers/years/models for the XS650 series from birth to the end.

Ok, I've identified the motor as 1972 XS2..
But the frame is a 447- which is '74.
It came with no engine mounts.
From what I've read so far, after '74 the engines will swap, but I believe a '72 has different mounts.
I have '72 engine mounts on my ebay basket..
Any advice?
