What have you done to your XS today?

Bent up and powdercoated 1 last clamp to keep my clutch line and headlight wires from getting pinched by the triple tree at full lock. Took the bike for the first longer cruise today....probably 30-40 minutes. Runs well with carbs dialed in now. Have 1 small leak from the clutch cover I'll try to fix at my first oil change soon. Need to source a good quality, preferably black in color gasket if anyone has suggestions.
This is my first XS so I'm not sure if it's normal or not but the area near the oil pump/tach drive seems a little noisy?

Found this train car last week and knew I needed to grab some pics near it.

And done. Always a good idea to top the engine oil up again before you forget to do it. Must pick up another 5 litres of oil. There's only about a litre and a half left in the container. Just less than 2 litres to put oil level half way between high and low mark today.

I'm hoping that for the first time in my ownership, I have an oil tight engine on this bike. Fingers crossed.

Ha! Oil tight engine? Nope.

Investigation shows now that the clutch push rod seal is leaking. It looks like an Ars seal, it might even be the original one.

In hindsight, I don't think the gear train cover was leaking this time I regasketed it a few days ago. It's definitely not leaking now.

Finished the PMA installation
The flasher relay was buzzing .Turned out to be poor ground pulled a separate.

Lost the Neutral light It worked a couple of days ago .It turned out the Contact itself had broken
Found it rather quick
Had another one at home and could see that the ball at the end of the defect one was to far in

Is it repairable ?

As far as charging it is at 13.5 ish with lights on --- 14.4 Off
Needs to test ride more and reevaluate

It starts first kick runs a bit rough but can do that the first 100 km or so

That's one cool bike

Three more static runs today of 10mins each. Minor carb tickling. Plus a few rides around the estate, about 1 mile total.
1. Still a very slight misfire.
2. M.Gadget Chronoclassic speedo flashing red light; no surprise as iggy not connected via M-Unit.
3. Need to check timing.
4. Need to check valve lash.
5. Need to check timing chain adjustment.
6. Balance carbs with manometer.
7. Clutch needs adjustment, neutral hard to get since layup.
More to follow.

a busy day:
while waiting for the water pump for my broken washing machine, did a bit of work:
- taking a break from K70s and switching to BT46s. Changed the front tire. The bead had a hard time seating. Had to bounce the wheel filled to 50psi for 15 minutes or so. All good in the end, balanced out very nicely.
- changed out the front fork oil. one of the drain screws stripped. left it in there and just sucked the old oil out with the level syringe. Left the preload springs on the gold valves alone. Will see how the front feels with the fresh oil and the new tire. The rear will be changed tomorrow (maybe)
- still waiting on the alternator brushes. supposedly monday
-the washing machine is back together and working ($800 saved)

Today I removed old filter and fitted the upgraded one
I couldn't believe the state of the original
I wonder if I'm the first one to open it up in 50 years!!
I have one of those sump strainers to fit next time I have the sump plate off. Looks like a big improvement on the original to me.

I've also fitted one of the Honda filter conversions in place of the side cover strainer a few months ago.
