What have you done to your XS today?

First trouble free ride today. XS650D is back from the dead. Couple of minor niggles to sort out but essentially it's done.

Spark plugs look fine, perhaps slightly rich but not by enough for me to want to do anything about it.

Being cautious if I was to ride the bike hard for a sustained period of near wide open throttle I'd probably go up a size on main jet until I had done a couple of high speed plug chops to check. But there's no prospect of that happening. Today I didn't exceed 50mph and I doubt I'll ever go much faster and certainly not for long periods.

So, it's pretty much done.

Plugs look a bit darker than they are in real life -

I purchased safety wire bolts for my rear sprocket after having them come loose on me. Note to self, do not reuse original rusty locking tabs...

First time safety wiring, I'm happy with it. The new bolts were protruding too much and just almost contacting the swingarm, even with the little trim it got... I chucked them on the lathe and faced the heads for some clearance.

Does anyone else safety wire their sprockets or other fasteners?

Today I ordered the Vape system to install this winter. The Pamco has been running good but I think the Vape will be a good upgrade. I ran a Vape on the RD350. Also when I rebuilt this bike many years ago it was from two bikes. I decided to use the better of the two frames so at this point they are not matched. So I decided to move everything over to the original frame that matches my motor so they will be a matched pair. Dont know what I was thinking when I did that. So I will have a compleate bike with matching numbers and a frame with engine cases with matching numbers as everything else has been sold through out the years.

Today I pushed it in i the summer night
Prefect weather again wont get any better Had some tools for adjusting the Ignition timing

60 - 70 km -s out Died --- blown main fuse 20 A New fuse blew again directly have 2 on the bike charging 30 A and main 20 A
maybe need to think about that.
Had to push it 2 km .. To a gas station the first closed ,The second no fuses no voltmeter and no WC so I could let out the chicken in the belly that wanted to fly again. The girl not in any mood helping anyone

Was getting darker and with not so many fuses left -- 2 and no Voltmeter I was planning to park take bus and train home and come back next day.
Took out the Boyer pickups ,since I had adjusted them
Took off the flasher relay being close to the motor
Disconnected regulator
took off spark plug caps from plugs
Second to last fuse Power on aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ..ndd green neutral light not blowing the fuse
Neheeejj ..

I can go somewhere on the battery to another gas station with fuses and perhaps a Voltmeter
Can let the chicken out.
Much better Station bought 6 fuses
But no voltmeter
Getting darker so going home on the battery without lights was not good And some roads was not good for stalling in the night
Long walks and impossible push difficult find towing.
I figured before take the buss . I can always test what happens if I connect the regulator
Was expecting a fuse blow immediately but no ..green neutral light again Kick started --and charging
I did find one of the stater white wires not being connected but I don't think it was the reason for fuse blowing

OK ..tried to ride home in the night lights on .Not revving and not high speed .
And got home. 140 km in all + 2 km pushing -still perfect weather

This is the only safety wiring I do on a bike...

Did this on my old chain and it lasted until I cut it off. I tried wiring the new chain (520 Xring) and after one short ride it was chewed up so I removed the remnants of wire. I’ll have to try again.

On my trident I cut a thin strip of coke can
It's thin enough to slide in-between the clip and master link and fold over
