Fab'd up a lifting fixture to pull my engine from the frame.
And pulled my engine to figure out why I only have 60 lbs. Compression on the right side along with the odd backfire.
Nice work.... and it always goes better with a whickey/7 on the bench!Fab'd up a lifting fixture to pull my engine from the frame. View attachment 358246 And pulled my engine to figure out why I only have 60 lbs. Compression on the right side along with the odd backfire.

And it cap it all, PO made it bloody difficult for you to even get in there. PO's ears must be burning by nowEngine would stall after popping into first gear. Did al the regular fixings but nothing worked. While removing the clutch basket to acces the troublesome starter gear I noticed that one of the clutch springs was bend and compressed (see photo). So even with the clutch handle fully pulled the clutch did not entirely disengage ... ordered new springs and allen bolts (PO stripped the original ones) and problem fixed .
The bike belonged to a young women so I'm think'n the PO before that did the hatchet job ... but hey, I know the bike is up to specs nowAnd it cap it all, PO made it bloody difficult for you to even get in there. PO's ears must be burning by now
When I cleaned the plate up and wiped out the little turds, they were fairly soft and pliable. I was also thinking the bits may have been some squeeze out of Hylomar seal and from the sump gasket, so you may be correct.Looks a bit like sealant.
Still dont have your own dedicated topic? It's free you knowGot a bit more done on my mates bike today.

I haven't checked the plugs just yet, not enough miles really. It starts and rides exactly the same. The pipes didn't go blue, or even yellow just yet. When I have done some more miles I'll check the plug colour, I don't think there's an issue though.Looks great! Any tuning differences moving from the 2 into 1 to the new system?
Lot of work but sounds like you feel it's worth it. How are you going to protect the alloy once you get them fully cleaned up?No pictures today. Further cleaning up the 650D alloy rims with Scotchbrite pads I bought. Fine wire wool wasn't quite aggressive enough. Starting to look much better as I get the remnant lacquer and corrosion off. Still quite a bit of work to do though.
I have no plans to do anything beyond a nice clean satin finish. Definitely not polished. Since the bike will certainly never see water and likely will never do more than a couple or three of hundred miles a year, I'm not anticipating much of a problem keeping the rims looking respectable. Perhaps a wipe with an oily cloth a couple of times a year should keep it looking pretty good.Lot of work but sounds like you feel it's worth it.
