What have you done to your XS today?

A flea and a fly in a flue
were imprisoned so what could they do?
Said the fly let us flee
Let us fly said the flea
So they flew through a flaw in the flue.

Oh wow!! My paternal grandfather used to recite this regularly!

Only difference was, he said it as:

"said the flea let us fly
said the fly let us flee"

Thanks for the memory!!

Didn't take too much to empty out the cover!

Hammer and mandrel with a bit of beating for the sleeves and not TOO much work with the slide hammer to pull the rocker shafts, going back in a bit a time or to like anytime you're trying to separate rusty parts. They really aren't that bad but if newer ones have the same dimensions I'll change them out.
Hmm, best way to clean up the cover? Think I'll fire up the Nesco with water and dish soap.

Was out in the SOIR looking for an early cam to measure and this wandered into the basement.

Savable? hmmm.

Scrape off the mung and doesn't look SO bad.

Some more scrubbing lots of PB B'laster and three out of 4 rockers are free and smooth, 4th is free but a bit stiff yet.

will make a mandrel to drive out the sleeves then try to slide hammer the rocker shafts out.
Wouldn't mess with it but it's a matched head/cover set for the original engine for a back row XS1B. Head, valves, cam are all in "good" shape Don't know how this got so bad. PO's PO I think, bike came with a different motor in it. Need to confirm later parts will fit the cover and swap them in after clean up.
normal you not need a slidehammer ... the axle ha a threat to pull them with a Bold & busching ...

ohhh allready done šŸ™ˆ

Cleaned the bike, took it out for a spin around Torbay. Tapped the mirror threads to 10mm as some strange unf holes and now 10 mm threaded with new mirrors. I've changed the handlebars to a European profile and the old mirrors were too short Harley mirrors) with no rear view being originally on the special swepted back wider bars.

Sounds like you're in the getting-to-know-you stage with each other? Fun.

My 8 year old helped me 3D print a thumb scre knob for the idle adjuster. Much less fiddly when adjusting at start and as the bike warms up. If you want one, he can sell one to you for $2 + shipping :) (PEGT material and comes with an m3 set screw)
