What have you done to your XS today?

Surely this happens a lot though, if I check my oil level that would be a fair indicator (I've only recently changed it)

Pull the dip stick and smell the end of it, and the opening; any fuel fumes?
Mine didn’t smell of fuel by the way. The oil and fuel will separate over time. Any dilution of the oil cannot be a good thing. I would just drain it and refill with new. An oil change is cheaper than an engine rebuild.

I have started on my bucket list. Building a bobber.....

I dropped my bike the other day and busted off a turn signal so today I took it off and found I snapped the threaded stalk off.

I was able to take an easy out and pull the snapped off piece out of the signal. I then bought a stainless bolt and gun drilled on my mini lathe to repair my turn signal.

First time I’ve used this mini lathe in like 15 years. When I got it I had images of grandeur but found it to be to small to do anything I wanted to do. Was building a offroad buggy at the time and tried to turn spindles and stub axles and it was sorely inadequate for the task.

Ordered new gauge faces, and trying to decide if it would be criminal to replace the battered bronze centre fascia with a black one?

I pulled my rear turn signal off today to bend the mount back into shape to straighten it. Turns out I bent the stem on the rear signal in addition to mounting point so a made another new stem on the lathe, straightened everything out and got both turn signals back in order.

The lesson here is don’t drop your bike.
