What is the longest road trip you've ever taken on a motorcycle?

This morning I was reading an article that recommended this coast to coast road trip ,

“clocking in at 3,254 miles, U.S. 20 is considered the longest road in the National Highway system—and one of the most scenic, too. It stretches from the Pacific Coast town of Newport, Oregon, to the glittering big city lights of Boston, Massachusetts.”

I know some of the guys on this forum have stacked up some really impressive miles on bike trips.
I’m looking at you @cra-z1
But I also know a lot of others here have taken some impressive road trips. Myself? I’ve got no big trips under my belt, I’ve always been a day tripper.

But! I’d really love to hear about some of the trips you guys have made, whether it was 50 years ago or yesterday!

Actually I have been looking at doing 20 the entire distance. I have done parts of it and yes there is some scenic parts. Problem is when you get near Chicago and out east in general it could be troublesome. Still on my radar. Kinda looking at riding over to Maine then down the coast also

About 6k miles round trip, averaged 500-700/day. Trip took 2 weeks.
Had a great time bonding with my dad,

What a great opportunity to spend time with your dad and an epic ride to boot!

Nothing like being young on a summer night, riding your bike with cute girl on the back.

The bikes and the women age at the same rate, difference being the bikes still start with just a tickle.

yes indeed, came from the type of job i was educated to,(merchant marine captain). In the mid eighties companies couldn't hold on to us young once with the standard 5+6 months at sea and then home for 6 to eight weeks before we were send back out, so in order to attract steady crew they changes to 2 to 2 1/2 months on and equal time off, fully paid on a yearly salary both for time on and off. Gave a lot of time to explore. I did quiet a few trip in Europe too, however the distances are shorter, think the longest i did was Copenhagen through Sweden to the Finish boarder up to Norcap and back along the Norwegian coat to DK. Good memories of trip south to the alps too, lovely roads and scenery.

2 summers ago when I was a youngster of 67, my wife and I left New Hampshire, rode down the MABDR to North Carolina and then hooked a right and roughly followed the Trans America Trail out to Port Orford, Oregon finishing up in Chehalis, Washington. That run was 7500 miles of about 50-50 dirt vs pavement. The weapons of choice were a 2022 Royal Enfield Himalayan and a 2021 Yamaha XT250. To finish out the grand plan, we bought an inexpensive used truck in Washington, loaded the bikes and drove back to NH in luxury with air conditioning. Was a fantastic trip and once I get a new hip, I hope to be ready for more trips.

That was a great sounding trip, and to get to do that with your wife…kudos! I’m impressed by the distances covered on two relatively small bikes, especially the XT250 !
