I’ve got an xs360 that at some point had its carbs swapped for bs38’s. Don’t know from what bike the came from… in cleaning I accidently snapped one of the needle jets.
They are very clearly marked with the Mikuni logo and X-6.
Cant find anything marked x-6, ordered the z-6 from mikesxs and they are definitely not right.

Pictures below…

Try Jets-R-Us or Niche Cycle. Either may have what you’re looking for.

No dice. I guess part of my question is- could these possibly be misprinted? Thinking maybe they are the z-6 short which I was reading miles only sells the long- which would be what I got. Seems like they have the z-8 short which could work?

Those are the original carbs and are BS34s, and the X-6 is the original needle jet. While the Z series would fit, they would be very, very rich, probably too rich. Your best bet would be to watch eBay for some, either used or N.O.S.

these is definitely 38’s and not 34’s.

I can’t find any reference to the x-6 needle jet. Do I just need the z-6 short? Seems like people have the issue that mikesxs only sells the z-6 in the long variety but you can get the 4 and 8 in the short style- if I’m understanding correctly?

This isn't a US spec XS650 BS 38
well thats very interesting!!! i guess im only calling them a bs38 based off the diameter and what someone at mikesxs told me. im very curios to hear more about them not being for the us market. wondering if this is all a waste of time and i should just find some standard bs34's and go from there...

well, before i broke it nothing was wrong. i accidentally levered against it when i was pulling the two carbs apart.... would you recommend i just get a set of bs34's? do i get a more modern pair of vm carbs? im sort of lost here... didnt realize the 38's were that much of a difference.

Well I guess to say there was nothing wrong is a bit of an exaggeration. It never ran super smooth. But it did run

So my best guess is you have a set of "correct for an XS360" carbs.

Were I you I'd be running not walking to buy this set for parts.
Edit: read the description, sez some of his collection of carbs were missing internal parts but from the pics these don't look too molested.

Wow good find. Offer sent. Those look like stock bs34’s to you? Or you think that’s the same type I’ve got?

Also what exactly do you mean by “correct for an xs360”

Thank you for all your help!

We haven't seen better pics of your carbs But that fuel inlet looks like yours so I'm guessing the same as what you have? Compare and verify! I just don't know what the XS360 came with stock but a Mikuni that shares virtually no parts with the XS650 BS38 is my guess. The bodies share DESIGN with BS38's more than BS34's as seen on XS650's Look like about 1978 Mikuni state of the art with float chamber vents in the intake bell, a good thing for smooth operation.

PS you might ask the seller to check if the needle jets are in them, tho the price is so low checking the teeth might be a bit over the top.
"Don't look a gift horse in the mouth"
A farmer can tell about how old a horse is by looking at the teeth IE Nit picking.

Ha! I made them an offer, then messaged them asking… than thought to myself the same exact thing. A $30 gamble is okay… and hit buy now

I’ll upload some more picture in a little bit. Very curious about this all
