Today my only working bike, The Brat, was put to bed for the Winter and advised to the authorities it is now Statutory Off Road Notice. Well shaft me up the pooper with a rusty lump hammer, a sky full or high pressure arrived promising nice weather for the next week or three. How the fu(k did that happen.

I'm 99% you're right but won't go dig it out to check. Our weather now is a wind storm and the power is out. I just got done hooking up the generator and all the stuff that I could then tried to protect the bikes and came in here to take a break

Cold. Well below zero last night, hard frost, which is still there so must still be below freezing. Well, it's after 4 pm here so the temp must be falling again by now. I'm told it will stay cold all week.

Not been out on two wheels today.

Nother day, nother cold morning. Light dusting of snow overnight, maybe 2 millimetres. Just enough to make the pavements (sidewalks) and roads (pavements) white but not enough to cover grass or fallen leaves.

Eerie reflected light for my morning walk.

But despite the Sun still being below the horizon, a few tiny wrens were broadcasting their little data bursts. These birds are so tiny, adults weigh less than half an ounce, it seems miraculous they can survive such cold.

Heavy slushy snow this morning. Did not settle on low ground. Higher up a few inches of white stuff. Drive to works no problem, all melted by 3.00pm.

Here at the top of Mississippi we’re getting cold weather warnings. It may get near freezing overnight and only in the mid 50s tomorrow. Sunshine too! I’ll have to wear gloves to ride a motorcycle.

Rain, rain and more rain.

After 2 months of no rain and a few small light showers the month previous, the grass was brown. All the lawns in the area, (unless they had a bore), are browned off.

Council makes us pay for every drop used so the lawns go thirsty.

Rain solidly today with some heavy periods, runoff causing light flooding,

We ain't seen rain in ages, the rivers are very low, the cold continues. But this weekend, there is to be a change. Higher temps, very high winds and excessive rainfall. The rain will fall on frozen ground so there will be tragi-comedy sliding about as people try to walk or drive on sheets of ice.

No Motorcycle weather nor Car Weather
Just a few degrees below freezing
Some Snow for a few hours ---About 2 inches here Traffic Problems Long haul trucks sliding and getting stuck went sideways ---cars stuck. Perhaps a night in the car for some Bus Traffic stopped Sunday forecast + 10 Celsius and rain

The forecast seems to have been correct. Set out for my morning walk about 7am - before Sun up - and it was raining. Soon turned to sleet, and by the time I was half-way round heavy snow.

Now at 9:30 still heavy snow settling on the frozen ground. A good inch or more of white. Very pretty right now but unfortunately will soon just be a mucky, slushy mess.

Storm Bert has passed thru - mild, windy, months worth of rain yesterday. Lot of flooding, esp S Wales and my heart goes out to families who have been inundated with filthy flood water.

But at least the roads have had a wash so today Polly got the nod for a run out to Galashiels.

What Raymond said. Our Southern Valleys have had a hard time. Many villages are flooded with houses underwater on the ground floors. Many rivers have burst banks, with cars and much river silt / mud flowing down streets. It’s a natural disaster, but the British spirit and stiff upper lip will see us through. Communities are pulling together to help each other.
In valley areas like ours flood defences work for the local community but really push the flood problem down the road to the next town. Greedy builders have been allowed to build on flood plains and wetlands so natural dissipation of flood water no longer happens; whilst Councils and Government fill their coffers. When will it end?

We should be building property for the current state of the world’s ecological state not for what weather is happening now or in the past. Wake up world I say. I will post some images tomorrow.
