Whats your weather right now?

The owls are spectacular birds to observe. A lot of Snowy Owls just N. of town. Have a couple of Horned owls
nest each year in a big spruce. Have actually listened to only that pair on occasion hunt cats at night by mimicking a
low growl of a cat looking for a fight. Then dropping out of the trees when one comes to investigate. Never ever
would have believed that was possible. Glad there were 4 of us that saw it sitting around the fire to confirm we hadn't had too many wobbly pops. We hardly ever see Cardinals out here. A lot of Waxwings though.
Indeed...although they are considered nocturnal, they are also quite active during the day. Was watching a rabbit at the far end of the yard and along comes this silent flying form out of the trees and poof!... no more rabbit. Happened in the blink of an eye. One night, several Barred Owls had gathered in the pines along the driveway. They were making such a racket that it got me out of bed to investigate. They were completely undeterred by the flashlight I was using to spot them. they just sat there screeching at one another for a good 10 minutes, and then flew off.

Here in the land of the eternal sun burn, we are a bit of a broken record. Hot and dry hot and dry hot and dry.
The hottest December on record, we just had a couple of 80 degree days and no rain in sight. 🥵

30c at present. Just after 6 p.m. & getting the 3 cylinder bike out to head to the Pub to catch up with some old mates for Christmas.
Met up with three primary school mates last night I have known since the age of 5 years?
Two of which I have not seen for ten years. God how time flies.
Good night had by all and date set for next get together. We are all now 63 years young!
Weather was bearable in the pub…

Low sitting just off the coast. 100-160mm over about 800klms of coast line. Got 120mm here Bingle bay 13klm north, South mission 5klm south.

Rain belt moving out to sea

Mild, windy, stormy. Errands took me to Galashiels again today, quite exiting in a gale of 50-70 mph winds. The weather kept changing from clear sky to looming black clouds rushing in to squally rain and back to clear sky again.

But great to be out on two wheels on the shortest day of 2024.

Happy Winter Solstice, y'all!
