It’s going to be 60+ here today. The door to the North Pole opens tomorrow. We’re in for a week or more of sub freezing weather ahead. Monday will be frigid. Somehow, the bugs will all survive.

Here in the Phoenix metro area it’s been 147 days without any rain! We’ve already tied the previous record set just last year. January is usually our rainiest month, but there is no rain on the radar. As more and more people move here for the warm winters and job opportunities, this lack of rain combined with record hot summers year after year……is more than a little concerning!

What’s really weird is that I live in Mississippi and it’s snowing far south of me in New Orleans. We got only a dusting here. The current temperature is 24F, which is unusually cold like o many of us are enjoying.
Here in sunny Arizona we’re under a freeze warning tonight, oh the humanity! 
It’s not the cold that I mind, it’s my yard full of frost tender plants that I have to go out and cover with sheets.

-17C / -24C with wind chill tonight. The furnace will earn its keep tonight as well as the garage heater(s). The rest of the week is forecasted to be cold.

Touch of grass frost on my morning walk. Temp about -1°C, maybe 31°F. Feels cold and damp just now but once the Sun gets up will probably be warm and pleasant. Yesterday afternoon felt almost like Spring and birdsong also more spring-like. But most of us think the proper Winter weather is still to come.
