My yard looks like a plant morgue, with all the bodies covered with sheets.
The downside to desert landscaping, we try to plant things that can survive our hellish summer heat, but then they can’t tolerate a freeze.

The Met Office has issued a red weather warning for wind for Friday.
This covers a large part of the Scottish Borders and runs from 10am to 5pm. Peak gusts of 80 to 90mph are expected widely for our area.

I believe this is only the 2nd Red Weather warning issued since 2011 when the system was adopted - Red means sommat like severe weather, risk to life, severe disruption to be expected.Wow! You guys in the UK, better batten down the hatches!
But many people are sceptical about all Met Office warnings and I've heard the term cry wolf mentioned . . .
Yup the need to escalate and make EVERY speed bump an earthquake is real.
I gave that statement a 110% effort!
The Met Office sometimes appears to believe that if they fail to predict what later turns out to be hazardous conditions then upon them will fall blame and claims for compensation. My personal belief - similar reasoning is what makes local authorities and shops with car parking so assiduous in spreading salt.
