A refreshing breeze.

Oh yeah! We got one of our famous Haboobs last night. Usually get a couple every monsoon. It’s what we get instead of rain! 😄 these photos were from last night,

Have worked through severe dust storms in Australia and Africa but never seen one of these except in pictures. Great photos Mailman.
This is just what you want to come along after you drop the engine oil pan and open the hydraulics on your mining shovel.

At 69.65N, 19.59E. Opening day for our moose hunting season today. 10 deg C, 10-25 m/s westerly wind, periods of fairly heavy rain. Sitting in the back of my van trying to glass the hill/ mountain side. Not ideal conditions.

September is still a hot month here in the desert. We are in the last throes of summer, it’ll be 103 degrees today, but we have a low pressure front moving towards us with a drop in temperatures and the hope for a little rain. October usually
( but not always ) brings cooler temperatures. C’mon winter! 😃

C'mon summer!
Trade ya?

Storm Amy has arrived. Yellow and amber weather warnings but I'm ready to be underwhelmed. They seem to issue warnings and what arrives is what we used to just call bad weather.

Weather abysmal right now with heavy rain and the wind rising. Rain lashing the windows, house howling in the wind. Not sure how long the winds will last or when they'll reach their peak.

Walk tomorrow morning might be interesting, possible floods, possible trees down.

The day after the storm. Windy all night but now dropped to a fresh breeze. Loads of leaves down, strewn everywhere, a few branches down, but didn't see any trees blown over.

The streams are in spate and the River Tweed is a good few feet higher than yesterday. Up to the riverside path but not over it. Looking out across the river, deep, wide and flowing very fast it occurred to me how much water must be going past every second and that made me think abut how much rain must have fallen overnight. A lot.

I heard that in the Hebrides they recorded 96mph wind speed. But that's NW Scotland and although we've had a night of gales it clearly hasn't been that extreme here is the SE.

It's not over yet though, this is a lull but weather warnings are still in place for more high winds and more heavy rain today and tomorrow.

Here in the desert Southwest, we are enjoying a rare multi day , very wet , rain event. Thanks to the remnants of hurricane Priscilla, blowing off the Pacific coast of Mexico, it broke up and pushed all that moisture right up into Arizona. Thank you very much, we needed it! 😃

Funny , I was just reading this when you posted. We were out at 6:00 AM this morning and it was pouring buckets! We sat in a coffee shop watching the parking lot turn into a lake. We stayed until the roof started dripping on our table! 😄
Yeah, we’re getting drenched here!
