Strong T-storms last night, strong winds, lost power for 4+ hours. No physical damage that I can see yet, trees all seem to be ok.
Turns out one tree got zonked in the back, didn't see it initially.

Last night, another round of storms but winds not as strong. Power only out for ~2 hours this time. Neighbors got to use their Generac again!😄

Lake Georgetown at 100% capacity as opposed to high 60's one year ago...I'll take it!

Heavy storms my way, came home to a good portion of my neighbor's tree in our front yards, which also took out a power line from the pole in the alley to the street light up front. It wasn't live anymore so I coiled it up for the city to deal with.

My neighbor on the other side of me (the dude I share a driveway with and is a really good guy) came out and let me borrow his chainsaw to clean it up after the fully charged battery on my reciprocating saw died after maybe 5 minutes and I resorted to a hatchet. Cheap ass Craftsman batteries...

I now get why people love chainsaws and have requested one for the anniversary of my release from captivity of the womb.

After cutting it up and cleaning up.

And yet another severe t-storm blew through last night about 8:30. No tornados, but winds over 80mph. At one point half the city was without power.
We're still on the generator. Last update was power back on by noon. We'll see.
One of my neighbors took a bit more of a beating than I did... :(
On the bright side... at least the whole tree didn't fall on the roof.

Blimey that could have been so much worse. The tree looks very unstable in the photo; maybe it needs to come down?
Possibly. Couldn't tell from the street when I drove by. Didn't want to stop and bother him... he's prolly not in the best of moods right now.

Taught BRC classes this weekend. Yesterday was warm but glorious. Today, not so much. Started very cloudy but by the time we got to testing, storms blew in. I of course donned a rain suit but the students were drowned rats. At one point we had to take a break because the water running across the range was a few inches deep but they came back out and finished once the rain eased up enough for the water to drain off.
“Edit” I should add that our ranges cover 5 acres so yea, A LOT of water.

Britain in June heatwave shock!

It is possible that the June record temp of 38.1°C will be broken today, in south or central England, but this is just the start and temps are forecast to rise significantly further tomorrow and Thursday. We might even see the ABSOLUTE record of 40.1°C, that's 104.2°F for North Americans, broken this week.

The June record was set in 1976, which I can remember as a long hot summer. Was working at Sprague Electric in Galashiels, which was a metal-clad factory and became unbearably hot - management shifted the working day forward so we finished at 2pm and avoided some of the worst of the stuffy afternoons.

The absolute record was set in August 2022, and the significance if it is broken this week is how early in the year. Climate change ain't a myth.

one month of rain accumulation in 2 days here. THREE WEEKS AGO we had a months worth of rain in a week. Fields flooded, basements flooded, temps down to plus 6 C with high winds, a lot of field not seeded because fsarmers can't get in to seed in mud.Furnaces kicking on in June. Next is the mosquito flocks.
Finally a day of sunshine. after weeks of rain.

Yeah, working at a Rootes / Chrysler dealer, everyone who had a service to do was using the ramps indoors, changing the oil and immediately taking the cars out into the shaded parts of the yard. It was horrible inside.

Working in a factory in mid-70's Summer, we also had an employer that shifted the workday to 5:30 or 6:00A - 2:00 or 2:30P to avoid the heat.

Is that Rootes as in Rootes Group...Sunbeam Tiger?!

Yikes Raymond! :yikes: Are you trying to compete with Arizona? Serious question….do you have air conditioning? I really don’t know what your summer weather is normally like.

Here’s our next five days, we’ve been running our AC since late April here.

No, Bob, not trying to compete with Arizona!

As Britain bakes under this unprecedented June heatwave, Scotland is still significantly cooler. Today Scotland will reach a high of maybe 27 - 29°C or about 84°F but that is so much hotter than we are used to and people are being warned to stay out of the sun, keep hydrated, not to jump into cold rivers, etcetera. Everybody I've met today has complained about the heat, but I'm sure that for you 84°F sounds pleasant? Mind you, apparently the heat in Arizona is dry, but it's more humid here which makes it harder to lose heat by sweating.

No, we don't have a/c, not many houses in Britain do. Some workplaces do, like offices, typically in London, where today could reach 95°F. There is debate now about installing a/c in schools, colleges, hospitals and maybe new-build houses but it's not part of building standards yet.
