Not here but about 100 miles away at Menasha, they took a beating, went over and helped out a bit yesterday. A big area took the hit, since it was old time urban, houses were close together and the cottonwoods were huge.
Samaritan's Purse has churches that agree to host them for disaster response across the country This big church was already set up and rolling a few days after the storm.
The hardest hit area was quite the mess, access was problematic, power companies trying to reestablish power, nearly every power pole was down or busted off in a 40? square block area. Nearly every house moderate to severe damage. They were saying 5 weeks to power back on but experience says less than half that time...
Tree crews, construction companies, home owners trying to get there stuff trailered out, all kinds of helpers and of course tourists (free food and water set ups everywhere). streets were a zoo as big hauling trucks were trying to remove massive curb side piles of tree and house debris. with cars, trucks and trailers parked everywhere, soon as a pile was removed it reappeared. Sounded like they were going to ban access till the power companies got service back together.
The one thing that sticks out is how fiberglass insulation coats absolutely EVERYTHING, trees, bushes, lawns, vehicles, house walls everything you touch or rake has wads of pink and yellow guck stuck to it. Had to wear masks all day in the 90 plus heat and humidity cuz fiberglass particles choke you.. Mostly hauling debris out to the curb, but got in some chainsawing towards the end of the day. We have family doings this weekend, might try to get back over next week.
