I guess this subject has been discussed over and over, but i am still unsure!
I bought a 78 Special with alloy wheels, fairly low mileage. I have only ridden it a mile or so before deciding to fix a few things.
Checked alignment by placing two parallel straight-edges against the tyres of the rear wheel, extending parallel to beyond the front wheel.
The adjustment notches on the swinging arm were in the same position both sides, rear tyre 130mm, front 90mm wide.
With front and rear parallel, the front tyre is only a few millimetres from the straight-edge on the right.
To get the front wheel bang in central line between the two straight-edges the notches on the swinging arm need to be half a notch different.
The spacers appear to be original and correct size.
What's the verdict?
