Where the small end of that ground wire is supposed to be attached to?
The coils are already grounded. The horn doesn’t need to be grounded. XS650B.
Asking for a friend 😊

It’s the same wire. One end has the 8mm banjo connector (depicted on the photo) and the other is the 6mm that I’m not sure where it goes.
Looks like an engine ground... one end to the engine, the other to the frame. Where you put it isn't that important, but bare metal is important.

You said your coils are already grounded. I presume you mean the ground is provided via the coil stud/mounting bracket connection point, assuming no paint at that junction point. If you already have a robust ground, then you don't need that wire. Personally I would have a grounding wire from one of the studs on each coil to a good ground, on the engine, or frame. Maybe that wire is as Jim says, just a separate engine ground wire.

Yes, that's the engine ground wire. Originally, the large end is trapped between the right upper motor mount front hole and the motor, like so .....

The small end then runs over to the other upper motor mount and is connected to the front condenser mounting screw .....

I'm also going to mention, make sure the harness ground wire connection (shown in yellow above) is good, clean, and tight. That one little ground wire supplies the grounding for everything the harness connects to that requires it. I clean the eyelets on the ends of the ground wires with a wire wheel in a Dremel until they shine, then I do the same to the spot on the frame where they're going. Finally, I liberally coat the eyelet and the spot on the frame with copper anti-seize. I figure this will both protect them from corrosion and the copper will enhance the connection.

5twins… On my bike that grounding wire’s small end was attached to the motor mount via a small screw and the larger banjo was attached to the large nut/bolt on the motor. Then the other black wire is connected to one of the coil’s mounting screws and runs directly into the harness. I don’t have a condenser. Is that a problem?
