Wanted - WTB misc. bits for a 1975

I am very new to XS650s and have just picked up a 1975 that is missing a few bits. I need an airbox, sidestand, and the brake stay bolt and nut. I probably need more stuff as well, but I am not that far into it yet. My mufflers are rusted out too but don't know yet if I will go to the expense of replacing those. I am located in East Tennessee. Thank You!

P.S. I need the front master cylinder housing too. My bore is badly pitted

Things are going to b confusing. Mainly because from 74-79 Standard models mixed and matched some parts but others changed.

Air boxes slightly changed but mounting points didn't so andy air box off a 74-79 standard will interchange.

Side stand changed in 76 or 77, so only a 74/75, will fit. (Someone will confirm the 76)

Best bet is to get Part's manuals, get the part no and work off that. With exceptions like the aurbox part no will change but can b interchangeable.
Told you it was confusing.

I've got a handful of '75 parts leftover that I have been sorting through. I have a pretty decent set of exhaust posted in the classifieds, but I have other parts not listed as well. New members do not have the ability to DM until they have made 5 posts here. It's kind of a safety precaution to filter out bots/scammers.

Thanks for reaching out Willis. I did see your pipes listed, I am very tentative on spending money on the bike until I know it runs. I have a battery on the way. The carbs look like they were professionally cleaned and I was able to get spark with a donor battery, so I am hopeful. I don't think it's been on the road since the mid-eighties. Joe

If not already done, do you self the favor and drain the old oil and clean the oil filters - it's a cheap precaution for getting all kind of sludge up and clog oil lines / damage engine / cylinder walls / rings etc.I would even adda little oil through the plug holes and kick it over slowly a handful of times before attempting to start it.
I have various "75 parts as well (among other pretty sure battery and air filter boxes) so when ever you start look feel free to reach out and i'll see what i can dig out.

Thanks Neil’s, I did change the oil and shot some oil into the cylinders. The battery will be here Monday so I’ll let the group know how it worked out. Joe

When you search for a side-stand the books are wrong. 75-76 stands are the same. 74 was one year only and won’t work.

Good guess. 2006. However, the pic is a bit old. I sold it last year, sadly. I loved the FJR for 10 years. Too many bikes, 6 is enough.

I have a 2005 I’ve owned since new, 60,000 trouble free miles, just tires and oil changes.

Ok I got my battery today and fed the carburetors through an IV bottle. The bike fired right up and sounds nice and smooth. The (rotted) mufflers are off right now and the carb bowls leak - but she's a runner!

It would be a good idea to drop the bowls down off the carbs (possible, though not easy to do with the carbs still mounted) and clean them out, then new gaskets which might solve the leak.

The bowls are clean as a whistle; the carbs are leaking out the overflow tubes so it's a matter of the needle/seat leaking. I'm hoping they seal up after they soak in gasoline for a while. Thanks for your post Joe

Might just be a float adjustment to fix the leak.

When I got the bike the mufflers were loose, they were supported by one misaligned bolt through the passenger peg bracket. I got to looking at it today and there is no way the mufflers could bolt up to the support bracket, they seem to be out of plane rotationally by about 15 degrees. I’m guessing either the support bracket are wrong or the mufflers are from another year

Do you have the bolt in the back of header mounted to the frame mount? There are also a series of p clamps that should be secured as well.
