My first electronic bodge was installing a zener diode and resistor on a bicycle dynamo so it wouldn't burn out the headlight going down the "Oak Street hill"From the "Did you know" files :
That little dynamo puts out about 60 volts when there is no load (light bulb) on it. Good enough for a good zap.
Ask me how I know............
I played with plastic "model cars". They had rubber tires. I forced one over the drive wheel of those little "Union " dynamos so my bike head light got a reduced voltage (significantly) when I raced home on my bicycle at night after some nefarious acts...
