100acre island with about 30 inhabitants. Barge comes in every fortnight. No channel to the jetty, the tide determines the barge size. Only way on and off is by a local taking you to either of 2 other islands. Depending on the weather it could b as quick as 20min or up to 40min.
Not uncommon to have locals from PNG do raids to steal what they can
Spent 8 months building houses on there. One day the local cop was speeding around on his quod bike with his rifle. There was reports of a PNG tinny in the area. When asked if he would shoot them, "hell yea and would aim to hit".
The cop was a big, big man. He died when I was up there. We had to use the backhoe to lift him into a coffin and into the ground. No way could 10 men lift him.
