The Ford plant on Route 66 city of St. Louis shipped their 1949 Fords via barge. The first photo record shows it is at St. Louis, Missouri. It appears that they are be pushed up the river by a tug. American automobiles were shipped on specialty barges following World War Two, plying large rivers like the Mississippi and Ohio, serving assembly plants of the valleys.
