Took me a minute to figure out what I was looking at!

They have outlawed oil changing pits in Canada
The old steelworks maintenance depot near me (a long way and long time ago) used to have a pair of ramps like that, but much taller. I would take my vans and cars down there for routine oil changes, which was handy.

The local cop shop closed and they also had a maintenance bay, which was even more useful, as it was just around the corner.
Being a bit of an older fart, I can remember when the earthmoving contractors would simply dig a hole and pull the equipment over it to drop the oil. All the trash and rags and old filters went in the hole. There's an old Popular Mechanics picture of a "backyard" oil pit, a hole in the yard full of stone, like a drywell for used oil. Not the best practice for groundwater quality. But as a guy who did a fair amount of job site safety work over the years, I expect that "grease pits" for working under vehicles have fallen out of favor due to the fall hazard. Here in the U.S., fall protection on the job is a big, big deal these days. 40 years ago, if you fell off a roof, or into a hole, that was just considered part of the deal. And I did, several times. Glad I survived relatively intact.I’m sure they are outlawed here is California too.
I was on a skidoo trail at Tory Hill Ontario and the trail was blocked because of a beaver dam, there was a father with his 2 young daughters on pw50’s on the other side, it was about 3’ deep, I upshifted my KTM 525 into second, dumped the clutch entered the water and started to climb the dam where I just gassed it and hung on. My friends said they all had to drop their bikes and run because of all the logs flying towards them, the back end almost got swamped and grabbed by all of the rushing water but I just hung on until I got to the other side. 20 minutes later those little pw50’s idled down the trail through maybe 3” of water. The excavator took out the beaver dam and the guy that owns the jetski is pissed!
