Got to tour the Old Joliet Prison today. It's kinda in shambles now since it closed in 2002 and it's essentially been left to ruins. There was a lot of B&E and people graffiti-ing the place up for a lot of years since it closed, but I imagined it was a miserable, depressing place to live even when it was functional.
We were in a cell block and I could just imagine the fucking noise in there making it damn near impossible to sleep.
Then I walked past a cell and noticed a bunkbed. It dawned on me then that holy shit there was two men sharing this space the size of my bathroom. I should have taken pictures of the cells for reference. The battery on my phone was almost dead but I did take some pictures.
