Made a wiring harness and an adaptor for the Gonzo box and cleaned the carbs I started started the engine a few weeks ago, oil filters were clean and no bad noise . Now to start getting it road worthy. It has a Shinko 130/90 B16 rear tire that would touch the chain if I aligned it properly, the PO already did that and marked the sidewall... suggestions ? Also I have no air filters, OE exhaust OE BS 34 carbs. Need Jetting suggestions for pod filters . Thanks. R.

you will have to offset the sprockets, with spacers or something like that to get the tyre clearens . I've not done it before so?

The tire is misaligned now, cocked to the right, if I adjust it straight as it should be it will touch the chain. The plan is to do very few mods.

My bike runs an Avon RoadRider and it's a tight fit, so I have to ensure the wheel is central. It just about clears the swingarm both sides but does not fully clear the chain - the rivets leave little witness marks on the tyre but this causes no problems.

I'm running a Shinko 13/90/16 rear too. It's a tight fit.
I went with equidistant space between the tire and the swingarm, both sides, regardless of what the chain adjuster hash marks say.
A smaller toothed rear sprocket or maybe an extra link in the chain will move the tire back for a little more swingarm clearance but won't address a chain rubbing.
Proper tire pressure along with correct chain slack?
IF Yamaha had made an 18" rear drum tubeless mag........

A 130 wide tire should fit. I suspect the Shinko must run very wide. I’ve run several brands of 130 wide tires on my bikes. They all fit. I never tried a Shinko.

Spoked wheel or cast? Pics?
It's a 81 special II with 16'' spoked wheel. The axel was stuck ( corroded )on the left side, had to drive it out. The 0619 dated tire was already scared badly from two owners ago, the guy I bought it from didn't get it running. I have lots of parts in boxes that came with it but a lot are missing. I'll be going for more of a standard look than a Special. The wheel is off now while I deal with the brake and frame clean up, pics later when I get it halfway presentable and rideable.

Mine is an '81 Special. The differences are minor with the biggest being cast vs spoked wheels.
