I got the seat mounted this morning. Hard to believe how much of a difference 1.5 inches makes (I know "that's what she said') in much less bend I have in my knees. If the weather cooperates, I'm going to take it to breakfast at the Old Farts Liars Club, then go for a bit of a ride.
Terrible pic taken inside right after pronouncing it done.
Who am I kidding, it's likely never going to be done. I am super unhappy with the clear coat I sprayed over the color when I painted this thing. Gasoline will immediately etch it down to the color coat. I will run it this summer until I can't take it anymore and then respray at least the clear, but most likely, I'll take it down to metal and start over. I like the color and have enough of it to do it again, so the effort is mostly to fix the clear coat. While I am at it, I think I'm going to source a set of standard side covers and paint them to match.
On a positive note, I can't begin to tell you all just how happy I am with the way the motor runs. I have done a couple of plug chops and the plugs are burning perfect. Shifting is smooth and the clutch seems okay. All the electrical bits are cooperating.
And on a separate note, I kicked the Bonnie over yesterday to see if it was wet sumping (It's not) and my hip felt pretty good kicking against compression. My hope is to be healed up enough to ride it by the end of August.
