got a 81 xs1100 for cheap $200 runs great looks good ,anyway the problem is it makes a popping sound going into 2nd gear and now 4th gear and it wont go into 5th gear its still rideable though, any ideas befor i tear into it,will send pics at a later date, thanks mike

That's a bargain buy. I have an XS1100RH 1981 model as well. Nearly on the road. I concur with previous assessment, also they suffer from a notorious 2nd gear issue, although I am not sure which year it got sorted. If you have time and can be bothered this forum site will set you straight....
