I removed my leaky petcocks from the bike this morning. I don't see any obvious reason why they were leaking, but I will pay more attention to the surfaces when reassembling. I do have a question though. When examining them, I can't really figure out how the reserve works. The "on" and "stop" positions are obvious. But when you put it in the reserve position, it appears to couple the ports in the 6 o:clock and the 9 o:clock positions together. The 6 oclock port appears to be blocked and goes nowhere. The 9 oclock port is the main feed tube from the tank. What am I missing here? I realize that petcocks arent rocket science, so I'm a bit embarrassed to be asking this.

No more leaking petcocks on my XS2. This time I flattened the plate on the rear, and the front wiper disk using wet 1000 grit sandpaper. I probably tightned everything up a little tighter too, since I had had problems before. I used a light grade teflon thread sealant on the drain plug and the hose barb threads too. Finally, I bought some nice fitting Buna N flat sealing washers for the screw heads. It pays to take your time and do it right, I guess. This forum was a big help. Now I'm ready for a test ride, but it's raining, and I'll be gone tomorrow. Patience, patience
