Xs650 repair costs

Hello, I was wondering if 700$ is reasonable for the work that's being done to my bike at a shop.
Intake Manifolds, Tappet cover seals, Points, Condensers, and spark plugs.
Labor to rebuild and tune carbs, adjust valves, install manifolds, install points and condensers as well as tune and adjust timing.

It sounds reasonable to me. The cottage industry guys charge $100 per hole to fix carburetors (or they used to.) $700 might be a bargain in today’s market if they do it right.

One of the things I like most about an XS650 is that I can fix it myself. That’s a big part of the charm.

It's my first xs650 and I tried to get it running but working all the time It was hard to find any time to work on the bike

There’s no harm in that, except to your wallet, especially if you get a job well done.

Where in Arkansas are you? I’m in the Memphis area. Also, we’re gathering in Mountain View next week. We’ll be there Wednesday and until Sunday morning. All XS650’s all weekend.

Yeah you're not wrong in the future I'll be doing my own repairs I just wanted my bike to be ready for the season and I didn't think I could make that happen in a timely manner myself but I'm from Harrison area and If I get my bike back by then I'll definitely be there

For several years my job was full time travel. I often left my bike at a couple of those cottage industry shops. The took good care of me. I’d come home and have my bike ready and waiting.

I think that is pretty reasonable but I've never paid anyone to work on my '74, exception being the machine shop work I paid for. You will be happy about it when you're zipping down the road.

Short of machine work like boring cylinders, I also do all my own work, and the 650 is good for that, very easy to work on.
