Xs650/ xj750 Chopper build

So long story short had a 1982 xj750 chopper I built, it burnt down (literally on fire). I had a XS650 engine I wanted to make a chop for... So I'm reviving the xj Frame I chopped and using it for the XS engine, I had already started acquiring parts for the XS and now plan on using what I can for this weirdo bike.

One question I have first did they only make the mag rim in 16in and spoked rims were 18?

Don't know about the XJ but the XS 650 did.
From 79 to 83 with 2, (3 counting an alloy rim one year), types and from 79 to 81 the XS came in 2 models, 1 mag wheel and 1 spoke wheel.
The models were.
79SII, (Special 2), 2f same model, 16" rear, 19" front,. Alloy rims. 2 common names.
80G SII. 16" rear, 19" front, Chrome on steel rims
81H SII. 16" rear 19" front, Chrome on steel rims
These 3 models had 36 spoke wheels front and rear.

These 2 models had 48 spoke rear and 64 spoke front wheels
82SJ, 16" rear 19" front, chrome on steel rims
83SK, 16" rear, 19" front, chrome on steel rims.

Go to the Tech Menu. Click on the first link for pis and descriptin of the changes for each model, 79-83, ID thread. Same thread stickied in the garage forum

Yeah I should have explained because I'm going to have a custom axle machined to the xs diameter and use a xs rear rim looking for the mag style with the rotor, just wasn't sure if the mags were all 16 in the rear the front is the springer for a xs from tcbros which I think is moto iron brand(?) with a 19" Harley rim

Front wheels on '80 and '81 special ll are 19". No?

I rarely question the skull, I just remember ordering tires for my '81 Special ll.

Does Anyone still do rephased cams for the 277° rephase? I remember hughs hand built used to but did that fall out of style? And anyone hear of anyone over boring and short stroking these engines? And if so how well they worked or anything like that?

There are 2 xjs on the property next to mine in a pile. I have had squatters living there for the past few years and the sheriff finally ran them out. I don't know if you would need any parts from them but I could go salvage some before they are hauled to the dump.

Some guys came by with a tractor that had a grapple claw on it. I don't think that there is anything salvageable now, and they're gone.
