By the life of me, I can't determine what this part is for, or if it's replaceable?
The parts manual doesn't show this side of the engine so I don't know what part ## to associate it with.
The two threaded inserts are corroded, and I wish to replace them.
Any hints would be most appreciated, including an online vendor that sells them.
Thanks in advance !

My guess is its the same as part number 7 in the diagram. covers for the rocker arm shafts maybe.
It is a similar motor to the TT600, XT 600 do they have a forum you could ask on? or possibly look at the TT/XT parts diagrams.

I almost bought one of those way back when. It was between that, the Honda CB-1 400/4 and the Honda Hawk GT (NT-650/RC-31). The best deal I found was on the GT so that's what I bought, still have it but I continue to think about the SRX...

Thank you Gunk!
So it's not a port-cap but rather the end of the shaft rockers!
Looks like I'll be taking my Dremel tool/brush to remove all of the corrosion and treat it against future rust.
Appreciate the link and diagram pic above.

You are more than welcome Len. Glad I could help out. Here is a company from N.Mexico I've used AS i WENT THRU MY XT/TT 500 group of bikes I was
offered by an old racing buddy. Wound up with 6 bikes,5 extra engines up t XT550. I used their 1-061 and 1-062 dual feed rocker shaft oil line kits.
on 3 bikes. I'm thinking the TT600 may have a better rocker oiling set up than the early bikes but not certain. These folks were Great to deal with here in Alberta. They have broadened to the Yamaha XS700 TWINS AS WELL NOW for any of you fella's on here that may have one. Have a gander at all the neat hardware they carry. https://www.thevintagespoke.com/ BE Careful. My credit card kept bouncing off the rev limiter when here ! 🤔
